HAIR

Fundamental Facts - Hair

Around one million hairs are produced during the average lifetime of a human, if linked together they would represent a distance of 1000 kilometres.

If one were to link-up the amount of hair produced in one day alone, at a normal rate of hair growth, the distance would be about 30m per head. The tear resistant of hair is also remarkable. Tear resistance tests have shown that a healthy hair can take up to 100g in weight without tearing. A plait of 100,000 hairs can then be burdened with up to 10,000kg, which is 200 hundred weight, or about 12 middle class cars! Take a closer look.
